The other day we pulled out Emma's new tennis shoes for the fall. It is very hard finding Emma shoes b/c her feet are very narrow. It is a challenge and a whole days adventure when we need to buy some new shoes. Well I discovered a brand that has a few options for Emma that work and that brand is Vans. They are very well known in the skater world. I just love their kid shoes and they go perfectly with the skater/surfing brands I like, like Roxy and Hurley. So here are some pics of Emma rocking her new shoes.

Skater Girl
Sorry about the bad blogging lately. Life with two certainly keeps us super busy.

2 Weeks Old
Yesterday Abby turned 2 weeks old. Hard to believe! We went in for her 2 week well check and here are her new numbers:
Weight 8lbs. 8oz.
Length 21.5 inches
Head Cir. 36 cm.
The child is growing and growing well. So far in life she LOVES to eat. I think that is why I am already back in my regular clothes. I sometimes think I am not going to be able to keep up with her. Good thing we have a can of formula in case we need it. When she is hungry she lets you know it. The girl has a very loud voice and if you do not meet her need right away she just gets louder. She also loves to be held and sung to. We are just so in love with this precious little one.

A New School Year
This is kind of two blog posts in one. Emma started preschool and music school in the past two weeks.
Emma started her new school year while we were in the hospital with Abigail. I knew we were going to miss her first day and I was very sad about that. My little girl is growing up so fast that I do not want to miss any special moment. Thankfully I have wonderful parents that took care of it all. They packed her lunch and backpack and took their little granddaughter to school, all the while I sat in the hospital room anxiously waiting to call and find out how she did. Everything went as I expected. Emma did not want my mom to leave and was sad but by the end of the school day you would not have known. She had a great time and continues to have a great time at school. We are so proud of our Emma!

The first day.
Since it was raining like crazy on the first day, Papa made sure his little princess was not going to get wet and dropped her off at the front of the school with Gammie.

On the second day of school, Andy took a pic of Emma with her teacher, Ms. Tonya. Emma was still not sure about being left but has since improved.

On Friday, Emma started her fall music class. I am so excited for classes to be starting again. Emma just loves to sing along, play the instruments, run around, and dance with the scarfs. It is so fun watching her participate in all the activities.

Abby got her own name tag on the first day. I hope she enjoys tagging along to her big sister's class.

A Week in Review
It is hard to believe that it has already been a week since Abigail was born. Time is already flying by. Today Andy and I took Abby to lunch since Emma was at school (it is too hard going out to eat with Emma b/c she does not like to eat out), and we were talking about how crazy it is that we can take Abby to a public place. With Emma we never could go anywhere until she was 5 months old b/c of her health. It is weird how your experiences can be very different with your kids. We are just thankful that this time around at 7 days old someone is not telling us that our child needs open heart surgery. Thank the Lord that Abby's heart is great and that Emma's is all better. Sorry to get all sappy so here are some pics to make you smile.

Welcome home!

Kenzie came over to meet our new addition. Her and Emma had a blast playing together.

Cuddle time.

Emma needed a family photo for school so this was our attempt.

Love that beautiful Emma smile.

Generational Baking
The other day we invited Gammie over to bake cookies with her girls. It was a nice treat for all of us. I think Emma benefited the most b/c she got some extra love from Gammie and some yummy raisins to munch on while our oatmeal raisin cookies were baking. Thanks for the fun Gammie.

Abby slept through most of the baking but popped her eyes open every once in awhile to see what was going on.

Abigail's First Doctor's Appointment
On Friday, Abby had a her first doctor's appointment. This was our first excursion as a family of four. I think we did great considering they called us 45 minutes before the appointment and told us we needed to go to the downtown location b/c our regular doctor was under the weather. We ended up being 5 minutes late due to morning traffic.
Abby's stats are:
Weight 7lbs. 11oz.
Height 20 inches
Head Cir. 35 cm.
She is doing great in the growing department!

Abigail Marian Solomon
Abigail Marian Solomon made her debut at 5:22 am on Monday, September 6th, 2010, Labor Day. She weighed 7lbs. 14oz. and was 19.5in. long. She was born with hair but it is blond so it is hard to see. At times it looks strawberry blond or blond with some light brown streaks. Her eyes are dark blue so they will most likely become brown. She is just a beautiful blessing!

Labor was very fast, thank goodness. I woke at 2:00 am feeling some contractions. I started timing them and they were coming every 6 minutes. At 2:30 I woke Andy to help start timing the contractions. He first said to me, "am I having contractions or are you having contractions?" Oh Andy! So anyways, he started timing them and they were coming every 2 to 4 minutes. We called the doctor and my parents. We finally left for the hospital at 3:30 and when they examined me in triage I was 6 cm so this was the real thing. Yippee! By the time they moved me to a delivery room I told them I wanted to push. They checked me again and I was 9 cm. The doctor broke my water and then it was go time. Abby was born about 30 minutes later. This was a great delivery and the one I wanted, fast and no drugs. The nurses were amazed that I was not in any true pain until I needed to push. Even after delivery they kept trying to get me to take pain medication but I told them I that seriously have no pain.
We are just so blessed to have our baby Abby here. She is so beautiful and our hearts grow with more and more love everyday. We are excited for everyone to finally meet her and know her name. She is named after my grandmother Marian Evelyn Wicker. Abigail is a Hebrew name and it was important to us to have a Hebrew name and we have always loved the name Abigail. She can be called Abigail or Abby.
So far in life she loves to eat and sleep. She often likes to nurse to fall asleep. She gives a few good sleep stretches during the day of 3 hours but then there are times she likes to eat every hour. We all are adjusting to our new schedule. Thankfully we are home now so we can hopefully be more comfortable.
Here are more pics of our little Abby.

Guess Who Slept in Her Big Girl Bed?!
Emma did!!

Emma was not feeling well last night and decided she wanted to sleep in her big girl bed to make herself feel better. Andy had to snuggle with her at first but then she slept the whole night in her bed. We were very proud!! Now we will see if she will do it again.
*The picture is her at school playing on the playground. Last week she got to go meet her new teacher and see her new classroom. More on school later when her first day actually occurs. =)

Dusting with Papa
As most of you know my family is obsessed with cars and not just the type of car one drives but also with making sure the car is clean at all times. It is a family disorder that keeps getting passed down from generation to generation. Well a few years ago when we bought the Audi around Christmas time and my dad thought the perfect gift for me would be a car duster. It is something to be used in between washes to keep that car looking clean. So now the next generation is being trained in car dusting.

My dad just happened to have a mini duster for Emma to use. I wonder if I should be worried?!
