Sisters

I love these moments when the girls show their love for each other. It is so special to see them give each other kisses and hugs. I hope as they grow older they continue to be sweet to each other. They are my little ladies that I love with all my heart. I am blessed beyond words to have the both of them.

Capital 10k

Andy and I woke up early this morning to go run the Capital 10k. This was my first year running it and Andy's second. I must say, before the race began I was having my doubts. I just did not feel prepared for the race. I thought that joining the Y would help me get ready for the race, but with our ever changing schedule it was difficult at times to fit in the runs that I felt I needed. Andy was a great running partner. He told me that no matter what we are doing this for fun. If you walk it or run it, it does not matter.
Well I set my goal of completing 4 miles, because I knew I was well trained for that distance. I am proud to say that I ran the whole thing! Andy gave me great encouragement towards the end when I was running out of steam and suffering from a pulled muscle. I completed the race in just over an hour, and I must say I feel great about it. One of the best parts of the day, outside of completing the race, was watching a crowd of 10,000 people become still while our National Anthem was being sung. It was beautiful. Now I wonder if I will do it again next year?!

Sorry I do not have a picture of us. I completely forgot to take one. Oh well. Here is one of our little cuties. Gammie and Papa kindly babysat the kids so we could have our outing.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

That was the theme of school on Friday. Emma decided she wants to be a baker. I wonder what yummy treats she will create?

Everyone was in aw of Emma's outfit at school. The Principal, Vice Principal, and Secretary had to make a special trip to Emma's room just to see her. They thought she was super adorable.

Talking Abby

Abby has been talking up a storm lately. She has started to say dada and mama. I just love hearing her little voice. It is so precious. Here are some clips of her talking.

In this clip she is mastering the word dada.

In this clip we were trying to get her to say mama. At about 55 seconds is when she says it.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Emma recently fell in love with the show Super Why. On one of the episodes, that she watches repeatedly, it is all about the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I thought it would be fun to take her to a live performance of Goldilocks at the Scottish Rite Theater downtown. I warned her ahead of time that Super Why would not be making an appearance, and that we will only she Goldilocks and the Three Bears. At the beginning of the play she was doing well but towards the end she wanted Super Why and then she just wanted to go home. I think it was difficult for her to understand that you are suppose to picture the human beings as bears. They did not wear full on bear costumes. I think it slightly frightened her, too. Thank goodness it was only 45 minutes long. Though after the show she could not stop talking about. So maybe she did have a good time after all. I know I enjoyed a special date with my little girl.

I always seem to take a picture when she is saying cheese.

Emma loved the lobby of the theatre. It was filled with pinwheels, bean bags, and stuffed animals.

Austin Rodeo

Andy took the day off of work today and we headed down to the Austin Rodeo. We had a blast taking part in many of the activities they had for the kids. Emma was so excited to go and was getting very anxious in the car. They had just learned about rodeos in school, so she was thrilled to see some of what she learned. It was all she could talk about.

When we walked in, there was a vendor displaying swing sets. Of course Emma had to check it out.

Little Abby taking a ride in the Bjorn. She was such a trooper, especially since all the fun was during her normal nap time.

Checking out the Longhorns.

The first thing we did in the kids tent was the petting zoo. Emma loved the fence and the kangaroo they had. She kept trying to scale the fence.

The goats loved Emma's shirt. They kept trying to eat it.

Andy and Abby feeding the animals.

Emma had no interest in feeding the animals. She is like me when it comes to animals, they are cute from a distance but so not into them being in our bubble.

Emma's favorite activity was being a farmer for a day. She LOVED this activity. This is all she wanted to do.

Picking her apples.

Finding a potato.

Getting some eggs.

Me and my rodeo clown.

Emma with her rodeo clown.

Lets not forget about Abby.

Another favorite for Emma was the walking on water activity. Emma climbed in this bubble and had a blast rolling around on the water.

She had slight difficulty standing.

Snuggling with my little lady.

Emma enjoying a train ride.

Later in the day we headed over to my parent's house to wish my dad a happy birthday. We will celebrate with him later this weekend, since he taking in the fun at SXSW.

Emma Gets Glasses

We recently had a few visits to the eye doctor for Emma b/c her pediatrician feels that one of her eyes is showing signs of laziness. We are still visiting the eye doctor to determine the best way to correct her lazy eye. While the doctor continues to monitor her, she wanted us to go ahead and get Emma glasses to see if that helps. Emma does not necessarily need glasses but at some point it will be required for her, especially since she is already showing signs of near sightedness and a stigmatism. Lets face it, I think all of our children will need glasses b/c both Andy and I wear them. Sorry kids. Thankfully they make glasses more stylish these days, unlike when I was a kid.

Emma giving me her cheesy face.

She sure does look cute in her glasses, when she wants to wear them. Most of the day is spent with her not wearing them. The doctor said we do not need to put up a fight with her to get her to wear them. So when she wants to wear them she does, and when she doesn't they hang out in their case.

A Wagon Ride for Two

So today we headed out on our little walk to the mailbox. I typically put Abby in the wrap or front carrier and have Emma ride in the wagon, while she enjoys her snack. While I was trying to put the front carrier on myself, I placed Abby in the wagon and buckled her in. Well I looked at her in the wagon and thought, we don't need this front carrier you can sit in the wagon. I think Abby enjoyed the open air but she was slightly jealous of Emma's snack. I guess next time I will have to provide one for her too.

Of course I had to take tons of pictures of the girls. I am not sure either one of them was into it.

Probably my best shot of them smiling.

Emma decided she did not want to show her face.

It think Emma found that throwing her snack container is more exciting then smiling for the camera.

Laughing at the snack container.

And I think they are done with the wagon and camera.
