Summer Lessons

Emma's summer has been filled with fun activities including dance, swim, and gymnastic lessons. She loves going to all of them and I love watching her have so much fun.

Emma's First Hair Cut

Believe what you just read, we did get Emma's first haircut. After many hours in the pool, her hair was taking a beating from the sun and chlorine. Her ends were just damaged and needed to be trimmed off. I hesitated at first but finally came to terms with trimming her hair. I love Emma's long hair and did not want that to go away. We ended up taking about three inches off and just cleaning up her hair. I love her new cut but I must say it is hard to tell a difference because it is still long.

Time for the haircut. Emma did good but did not last long. The problem was the vacuum they kept running. Emma hates the sound of a vacuum so she wanted to be all done with the haircut.

Butler Park

Today I took the girls on our first adventure of the summer (basically meaning me taking the girls on my own to something fun outside of Cedar Park) to Butler Park. I am have been wanting to do it all summer but sometimes I hesitate on certain activities when I do not have any help. I am so glad I took the big step b/c the girls had a blast. Our day was full of smiles and giggles.

I heart Pinterest

I am in love with this new website called, Pinterest. It is filled with great resources for all types of things like kid crafts, baking, interior design, fashion, funny quotes, etc. Check it out if you can. I am addicted to it for the baking and kid activities.

I just made a racetrack in our entry way. If you come over watch out, Emma might run you over.

I made this last night and I can't wait to try it with Emma. It is a counting activity.

This summer I have been hosting some friends and doing small group activities. We made puff paint a few weeks ago and the kids loved it.

I made these marshmallow Oreo bars last week. They were good but not something I would want all the time.

Backyard Bible Club

This past week Emma has been participating in Backyard Bible Club (BYBC). One of our neighbors hosted the event and we loved joining in with our neighborhood pals. I think Emma was still a little too young for all the activity but she had a great time playing games and splashing around.

The New Recruits

The local fire department was looking for some new recruits. I think we offer the cutest! Haha! Really it was a lunch date with Annie and Meg after dance class. We are loving have class with our buddies.

By the way, Annie is a pro when it comes to the camera. The minute I started taking pictures she started smiling. Emma on the other hand had no interest. She just wanted to eat her cookie.

And I most note how much I am not enjoying my iphone camera anymore. I use to think it was a great camera but lately I am not thinking so. So I am not sure if it is the camera or camera lady.

Watch Out!

Abby is on the move! This is what she wants to do all the time. Our backs are starting to hurt from hunching over but she is worth the pain.

Happy 10 Months Abigail Marian

Happy 10 months to our little love bug!! Everyday more and more personality shines through her sweet smile. I love that Abby is growing up but sad that she is almost one. Her independence and need for help have a love hate relationship. Abby is a busy little girl who is wanting to grow up fast and stop being a baby, at times.

What our little love bug is doing at 10 months:

• Is doing a great job with table foods and loves serving herself. Also enjoys the puree pouches that she can squeeze and control herself. I like them too!
• If she doesn't like a certain food, she has mastered spitting it out. Watch out!
• Meal time is often a raspberry contest between her and Emma.
• Loves to drink from a sippy cup! It is the greatest joy for her.
• Still takes two naps a day but has a hard time going down for sleep time. Loves to cry when you put her down. Makes it hard on a softy like me.
• Forget trying to get her to play with baby toys. All she wants is what Emma is playing with.
• Loves to try and mimic certain words and sounds. For instance, when we sing Happy Birthday, she loves to try and say happy.
• Enjoys when you clap for her and loves to clap along with you.
• Loves to wave hi and good-bye and sign for all done.
• Starting to roll over from front to back but still hates tummy time, unless she is extremely distracted with toys. Not sure how much therapy is helping anymore so we are re-evaluating the need for it.
• Loves to walk with the use of your hands. I am wondering if she will skip crawling.
• The best tushy scooter in town!
• Stubbornness is starting to show through. She will let you know loud and clear when she is not happy with something.
• When she is really excited her eyes get so big. I just love it and I love her!!
