When the cat is away...

The mouse will come out and play.

Abby misses Emma when she is at school but hanging out in Emma's room is a great way to pass time.

Emma's First Day of Kinder

The day finally arrived. The one I was not too anxious for. Emma had her first day of kindergarten. She woke up early and was very excited for her special day. Everything about the morning made her happy, especially the idea that both mommy and daddy would be taking her to school. Emma did a great job going into the classroom and putting her things away. She loved having her own locker and table with her name on it. When it was time for us to leave is when she got clingy. She never cried but held onto us with extra hugs. She was brave and I tried my best to put my brave face on. There were a few tears but I quickly wiped them away because I wanted her to be happy. We are so very proud of Emma and the strong girl that she is.

My kindergartner.

She wanted to walk backwards to school.

Off she goes.

In front of her class.

Her locker.

Reading her book while she waits for class to start.

Squeezes

& hugs.

She did a great job at school today. When she was done with school she needed her own time to recharge and refocus. She said she loved recess, trying to look at her teacher during rest time, watching her music teacher be silly, and learning her friend's names. After school, she played school and pretended to be her teacher while lining up toys and naming them after her classmates. She also mentioned that tomorrow is another big day. Hope it is nothing but a great year for her.

That's a Wrap

I can't believe our summer is ending. At the beginning of the summer I just wanted an easy, fun, slow summer. For the most part it was easy and fun but it was definitely not slow. Most of my blogging over the summer covered many of our fun events but there were a few things I never mentioned.

Both girls got to take gymnastics. They loved it!

We visited the library every week and had fun listening to stories and seeing our friends.

Emma continued swim lessons with her friend Gracie.

This was our first year to put Emma in camp. I was nervous at first but she loved it. She attended a social skills camp and an inclusion readiness camp.

She also got to do Science Camp. I was thoroughly impressed with this camp and hope to do it again. We loved being with some great friends.

Abby grew a deeper love for make-up and would take it upon herself to find it and put it on.

Emma got to have a one on one meeting with her teacher and we are all feeling great for the school year. Very excited about her teacher and how ready she is for Emma.

And Abby feel head over heals in love with dance. She cannot get enough of it and she is so very proud of her moves. She is anxious for her fall class to start.

It was a great summer filled with many wonderful memories.

Take Your Kid To Work Day

Andy's work hosted their annual take your kids to work day. The kids always love this event because they love to see where Andy works.

The water pond is always a big hit.

Working hard in daddy's office.

Checking out the frisbee throwing robot.

Driving and chasing cars.

Checking out the view.

The fire department made an appearance.

Kinder Camp

Kinder camp brought out the silliness in Emma.

For me, it brought out my nerves and sadness. I am so not looking forward to the start of kinder. It is a huge step in our lives. It is the beginning of her becoming more independent and growing up faster than I want. Emma is my little warrior that I want to protect at all times. I get nervous because she is not like most kids her age. I pray that someone out there will want to attach themselves to her and be her friend, even when she has difficulty showing her friendly side. For her, learning what it means to be a friend just needs to click on in her mind. I hope kinder can provide that for her along with a year of great memories.

Love you sweet girl and I hope you don't get tired of me because I am signing up for everything I can volunteer for. =)
