Emma Gets Glasses

We recently had a few visits to the eye doctor for Emma b/c her pediatrician feels that one of her eyes is showing signs of laziness. We are still visiting the eye doctor to determine the best way to correct her lazy eye. While the doctor continues to monitor her, she wanted us to go ahead and get Emma glasses to see if that helps. Emma does not necessarily need glasses but at some point it will be required for her, especially since she is already showing signs of near sightedness and a stigmatism. Lets face it, I think all of our children will need glasses b/c both Andy and I wear them. Sorry kids. Thankfully they make glasses more stylish these days, unlike when I was a kid.

Emma giving me her cheesy face.

She sure does look cute in her glasses, when she wants to wear them. Most of the day is spent with her not wearing them. The doctor said we do not need to put up a fight with her to get her to wear them. So when she wants to wear them she does, and when she doesn't they hang out in their case.

A Wagon Ride for Two

So today we headed out on our little walk to the mailbox. I typically put Abby in the wrap or front carrier and have Emma ride in the wagon, while she enjoys her snack. While I was trying to put the front carrier on myself, I placed Abby in the wagon and buckled her in. Well I looked at her in the wagon and thought, we don't need this front carrier you can sit in the wagon. I think Abby enjoyed the open air but she was slightly jealous of Emma's snack. I guess next time I will have to provide one for her too.

Of course I had to take tons of pictures of the girls. I am not sure either one of them was into it.

Probably my best shot of them smiling.

Emma decided she did not want to show her face.

It think Emma found that throwing her snack container is more exciting then smiling for the camera.

Laughing at the snack container.

And I think they are done with the wagon and camera.

Happy 6 Months Abigail Marian

Our little lady is 6 months old!! She is just an amazing little lady that we love with all our hearts. Everyday is so joyous with her. Her smile and big blue eyes just light up the room. It is so fun learning about her and that little personality.

Here is what is happening at 6 months with Abigail:

Her stats:

Weight 16lbs 110z. (75%)
Height 25.5 inches (60%)
Head Cir. 43.5cm (80%)

All the fun stuff:

-I think her big blue eyes are here to stay.
-Wearing size 3-6 or 6-9 months depending on the brand.
-Loves her food. Drinks about 25 ounces a day of breast milk and eats one jar of purees a day. Enjoys apples, pears, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and sweat peas. We can start offering her more a day. We do think she has an oatmeal intolerance, so the doctor wants us to avoid it for now.
-Whatever she can put in her mouth she will. Loves her butterfly toy.
-Enjoys seeing herself in the mirror.
-Loves to exercise her voice. When she talks it is hard to hear anything else or anybody else. She is loud!
-Her sister makes her smile. She loves watching Emma play and enjoys when Emma plays with her.
-Enjoys participating in music class. She loves to sing along and play the instruments, with the help of mom and dad.
-Has become an independent sitter. This has opened up a whole new world.
-Loves being sung to and read to.
-Laughs when she is tickled and it is contagious.
-Always wants to be part of the group.
-Brings so much love and joy to our lives!

Kite Festival

Today we went to the annual Kite Festival at Zilker park. We were thankful to tag along with Kristen and her family, especially since her parents live so close to the park. We had a great time checking out the kites and attempting to fly our own, though there was not much wind so it was a slight challenge to get the kites up. Emma loved the other things the festival had to offer, like hula hoops and bubbles. It was certainly a great family outing.

A view of the city. If you look closely you might see some kites.

Emma trying to capture some bubbles.

Abby enjoying the view from the stroller.

Emma attempting to work this huge hula hoop.

My attempt at the hula hoop. I must say I am a good hula hooper. It was something I placed in back in the day of field days at school.

Attempting to wrangle in the kids.

Andy and Emma attempting to fly a kite. By the end our kite broke. Oh well. =(

Abby loved playing on the blanket with her toys.

A family photo.

Beautiful Weather

The weather here has been amazing. We try and take advantage of these beautiful days by spending them outdoors. Here are some fun pictures of the girls at Gammie and Papa's house.

Emma loves to play with the chimes.

Emma showing me her princess watering can. Watering the flowers is a must when we see Gammie.

Where did all the water go?
Abby was in need of some kisses. It is hard to resist those cheeks.

One of Emma's favorite things to do is run up and down the little hill in their yard.
Gammie loves to play with Emma.

Abby at the Library

Today I took Abby to her first library storytime. We had a great time signing songs, listening to a story, and play with toys. I think Abby was a little overwhelmed with all the action. Hopefully we will be able to do this more often, since we are kind of on a morning schedule now.

Oh and did you see all that sitting power she now has?! She is getting really good at it.
