Spring Break Rodeo

On Friday Andy took off work and we headed down to the Austin Rodeo. Emma was so excited to go and it was all she could talk about for days.

We started off in Kid's Town and Emma and Abby loved the Farmer for a Day exhibit.

Emma's favorite activity of the day was the "horse carousal." She loved it so much that she had to go three times.

Taking a snack break and learning how cows are milked.

Checking out the animals. I was secretly hoping the girls would just want to stay on the outside and not want to go in and pet them. I am such a germ-a-phobe that petting zoos bug me.

They made it in and loved petting the animals. I was ready with the hand sanitizer when they came out.

Checking out the baby chicks. So cute!

One of the popular events at the rodeo is the swine races. For each race you are assigned a pig to cheer for based on the section you sit in. One person in each section is designated the cheerleader for the section's pig. If your pig wins then the cheerleader wins a prize. Well Emma was the cheerleader for our section and our pig won! Emma was so excited to win a pig ball and a package of Oreo cookies.

We enjoyed some yummy Oreos after lunch.

My attempt at a sibling shot before we left.

Abby wanted her picture in front of the pig. She just walked over and waited for me to take her picture.
We had a great time at the Rodeo. I love the Spring Break tradition we have with going.

Spring Break Field Trips

The girls and I have been very busy enjoying the town during Emma's Spring Break. On Tuesday we met up with our neighborhood group to explore the Austin Nature and Science Center. The girls loved all the activities and the animals.

The Start of Spring Break

Emma's school Spring Break is upon us this week. I will admit at first I was just like what am I going to do to entertain these kiddos. I am not use to having Emma around all day, so I was worried that we were just going to go crazy from day one. Well I know it is only Monday but we are having a blast and I am loving all this time with Emma and I think Abby is too. Abby likes having a buddy around.

An extremely rainy Saturday kicked off our break. Abby loved watching it from the window. Emma was lucky enough to go roller skating with her daddy and Gammie, so she got some great entertainment for the day.

On Sunday we got to go celebrate our good friend Kenzie's 4th birthday. The girls loved the party and all the energy they got to burn off.

Abby loved rolling on these balls.

On Monday Emma got to have her first experience at the Y kids center while I worked out. The kid loved it and I think she could have stayed there all day. After the Y and our must visit to the ducks we went to the flower store, as Emma likes to call it, to get our goodies to start a garden. We got a starter seed kit and planted basil, corn, onion, green beans, bell pepper, and squash. Now we just have to wait and see if our seeds blossom. The kids also got some fun time outside today with our neighborhood group. It has been a busy start and we have more fun planned for the week.

Happy 18 Months Abigail Marian

I definitely can believe this sweet girl is 18 months. Sometimes I feel she is older than she is. Abby is constantly changing and learning new things. I love this age where the world is theirs to discover and Abby loves discovering it. Everyday she is learning something new or trying to say a new word. She is just a sweet little love bug that we are very blessed to have.

Abigail's 18 month stats:

Height: 33 inches (90%)
Weight: 24 lbs (50%)
Head Cir: 48 cm (90%)

What Abigail is doing at 18 months:
-Loves the alphabet and trying to figure out the letters for herself. The letters O, M, X, N, A, and E are her favorites.
-Is learning about counting and likes to point and count. Though the only number she will say is one.
-Has officially mastered saying "I want that!" while pointing or adding on what she wants like milk.
-Is extremely active but sometimes enjoys just sitting in our laps reading books. At times I think she could just do that all day.
-Loves pointing out flowers, the sun, the moon, and airplanes. She is pretty good at saying the sun and the moon as well.
-Enjoys the t.v. way too much. She has figured out how to turn it on and if we stay home for the day she is always running over to it to turn it on and plop her little bottom on the floor to watch it. Her favorite is Elmo and Super Why, which is another thing she will request with words. We are always asking her to turn the t.v. off b/c we try to limit the exposure but she does not care.
-Is a pretty good eater, at times. Loves fruit! She really is not into meat, except her little chicken nuggets. Her favorite meal is pasta with red sauce.
-Takes one nap a day that typically lasts 2 hours.
-Loves her bath time and always has to have her little hippo and princess Ariel with her during bath time.
-Obsessed with twirling and wrestling with Emma. The two just giggle like crazy when they are doing it.
-Loves being with Emma and trying to do whatever she is doing.
-Enjoys playing ball, especially kicking it around.
-LOVES ducks! Every time we go to the Y she has to see the ducks before we leave. She loves to wave hi and bye to them.
-Obsessed with her Papa. Loves to say his name all the time. She enjoys cuddling with him and having a snack.
-When she sleeps she likes to sleep with her tushy in the air.
-Is a very good kid. She is pretty easy going unless she is tired or hungry.

Austin Kite Festival

On Sunday we headed downtown for the Austin Kite Festival and met up with our friends, the Seibels and Andersons. This is one of our favorite events to go to every year and it is fun to share it with friends. The girls loved watching all the kites and trying to fly them. They also enjoyed playing with their friends and trying out the hula hoops.

We arrived early to beat the traffic and enjoyed a picnic snack while watching some of the kites already flying high.
One of the local music stations was playing music for the festival and Emma got up and started dancing.

We had a fabulous time and can't wait for it to come again. Though, Andy can wait since he got hit by two kites. Once in the shoulder and once in the face. He is still recovering.
